The 2026 festival of the Maryland Community Theatre Festival Association (MCTFA) will be hosted at the Potomac Playmakers Performing Arts Center on January 30 & 31. Six theatre organizations are participating in the event, in three sessions over two days. Tickets are $10 per session. A panel of adjudicators will provide feedback following each performance and awards will be presented Saturday evening following the final presentation.

Interludes with Impact presents a recurring music series performed by members of the IWI Talent Pool ffm.bio/iwitalent. It is a way to introduce talent to the public in a family friendly environment, that allows the love of live music to be the primary focus of the event.

This first event is Saturday, December 13, 2025. The location is at The Potomac Playmakers Performing Arts Center, 17303 W. Washington Street, Hagerstown MD.  There will be four performers from 2-7 pm:

The Blue Mountain Boys 3pm

Ted Casper 4pm

The Missing Years 5-7pm

An empty nester couple moves to NYC to embark on their next chapter. The wife pursues her dream career while the husband is on his ‘slide’ to retirement and comes home with a labradoodle. The female pooch takes over his heart and his life as she fills the emotional void in his heart.

This 4 person cast includes:

Greg: Husband to Kate; getting bored with his job and is looking to fill his emotional void

Kate: wife to Greg, embarking on her next chapter now that the kids are launched

Sylvia: a ‘labradoodle’ Greg brings home from Central Park.  Sylvia, like many ‘dogs’ is really more female human than anything else

Tom, Phyllis, Leslie- one actor with 3 roles

A wealthy spinster and her cockney maid take a beautiful Connecticut summer home in 1931. When they arrive, all the help has quit, except for a very odd butler who warns that something strange is going on. They are soon joined by the spinster’s niece who’s brought a friend… a “friend” who turns out to be a young man!

The Taming of the Shrew will be performed January 17 at 3PM & 8 PM and January 18 at 3PM.

William Shakespeare’s comedic play explores themes of courtship, gender roles, and societal expectations. It follows the courtship of Katherina, a strong-willed woman, and Petruchio, who attempts to “tame” her through various methods. Tickets $20/$15 (65+)

The Taming of the Shrew” is a comedic play by William Shakespeare that explres themes of love, marriage, and societal expectations. Our story is set in the year 1999 in the family’s coffee shop. It revolves around the ‘shrewish’ Katherine, whose strong will and sharp tongue make her difficult to get married. Her father decrees she must marry before her younger sister, Bianca, can be courted. A wealthy suitor, Petruchio, is seeking a rich wife and, undeterred by Katherine’s reputation, agrees to marry her. He then embarks on a plan to ‘tame’ her. Meanwhile, Bianca’s many suitors try to win her hand in disguise.
