Book, Music and Lyrics by
IRENE SANKOFF and DAVID HEIN
COME FROM AWAY is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
This production is licensed by Music Theatre International.
COME FROM AWAY tells the compelling story of the town of Gander, Newfoundland, and how for five days in 2001 the small town played host to over 7,000 displaced airline passengers in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. What develops over that time is the fostering of unexpected friendships, compassion, and resilience amidst global fear.
The rights to COME FROM AWAY have only recently become available, and The Potomac Playmakers will be among the first community theatre organizations in Maryland to stage this award-winning musical! The show will be directed by Cathy James and will run September 11-13 and September 18-20, 2026, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Further announcements, including audition dates and times for COME FROM AWAY and the balance of the centennial 2026-2027 Season, will be made in late April/early May.
