1926 - 1927 Our First Season!
At the Women's Club Board of Directors meeting on November 8, 1926, Chairman Ferguson carefully outlined the planning for a new Little Theater group. Specifically, she requested approval of the following courses of action: renaming the organization Potomac Playmakers, extending the privilege of joining to outsiders for a small annual fee of $2.50, and permitting the Playmakers to elect their own officers. After a lengthy discussion of these proposals and a detailed review of the plans for the forthcoming season, the following motion was made by Miss Mary Titcomb, seconded, approved, and entered into the board's minute book:
"Moved and approved that the Dramatic Department of the Women's Club will be open to the public and have their own name, Potomac Playmakers; that the dues be $2.50 per year to outside members; that all officers be members of the Women's Club with the Chairman of the Dramatic Department automatically becoming president; and that Potomac Playmakers share the fees of the outside membership 50-50 with the Women's Club."
After all these years and numerous changes, The Potomac Playmakers has continued their relationship with the Women's Cub!
